De-Tox

The cessation of alcohol and some drugs can be incredibly uncomfortable, debilitating and even fatal. Our goal at Hill Alcohol and Drug Treatment is to accurately evaluate anticipate and facilitate the safe stabilization of the dependent person’s body and mind.

With many of today’s medications, and a philosophy that slower is often better, we are able to safely allow the addict/alcoholic to develop their recovery program while allowing their brain to heal. Working, in concert, with local physicians, nurses and hospitals,, we are able to create a detox regimen designed to melt that specific individual’s needs and ability to tolerate the withdrawal process.

Anyone who has used alcohol, pain pills (Vicodin, Oxycontin, etc.) Tranquilizers (Xanax, Valium, etc.), sleep aids (Ambien) or heroin knows the incredible discomfort that begins upon discontinuance. Dependency often occurs innocently with an injury, anxiety over the death of a loved one or insomnia brought on by financial or family stressors. However, once the individual’s brain has adapted to the steady substance use withdrawal is almost inevitable.  Feelings of shame are usual, as is, an overwhelming terror at being separated from t heir substance. This terror often keeps people from seeking help, because they know how bad the discomfort can get. We do too and our commitment is to help the chemically dependent person gradually re-establish balance in their lives and immerse themselves in their own recovery program.

This is not a race to us! It is a coordinated (with the patient) effort to maximize their chances of establishing long-term recovery and the promise of a normal, healthy, happy life.

Some will tell you that there is no withdrawal from methamphetamine or cocaine but, we believe, it is just different. The same cravings, compulsions and brain chemistry imbalance must be addressed, at the onset of treatment, and with an equal strategic view toward a healthy, complete life.
