My Journey

In 1999, my sober journey began.  It was a new life:  meetings, book studies, step work, and not drinking no matter what!  My primary purpose now is to stay sober and help others achieve sobriety.

Since I was 16, music has always been an easy way for me to express my feelings.  I wanted to sing about the gifts I found in sobriety, but I was a suburban mom with two kids and doubted if I could make a CD that would be relatable.  I felt strongly, however, about sharing the message of recovery, so I pushed the doubts aside and made a CD.  I trusted God and took a leap of faith.  It took two years to complete, and Twelvesongs was released in 2002.

The blessings of the Twelvesongs CD have been overwhelming.  People in countries all over the world have been touched by it.  I’ve performed at recovery festivals, conventions, Alano clubs, and residential recovery homes.  Doctors, therapists, and counselors have used Twelvesongs in client sessions.  Some of my favorite memories:  Playing in Vegas at the Woman to Woman 41st Convention with an audience of 1,000 women raising their hands back and forth as I sang, “Reach.”  Performing in Nashville at The Country Hall of Fame for a recovery fest.  The New Orleans Sober Jam and the AA World Convention in Los Angeles.  It’s also been exciting to be a part of , one of the first internet radio stations to play recovery music around the clock.  I had  the honor of playing in front of the gate house where Dr. Bob and Bill W. met for the first time as we celebrated the 75th anniversary of AA  was an amazing experience.  How different my life is today.  God has done for me what I could not do for myself.  It has been an amazing journey, and recovery music has brought the soul back into my life once again.  It’s my language of the heart.

The grace of God has kept me sober for 18 years now, and I have learned to trust him.  I am working on a new CD now that I hope you will all enjoy.  I am really excited to share it with you.  Thank you so much for your support, and I wish you all the best as you walk your own journey.

God Bless

What patients say about Hill Recovery...

“Such a wonderful program. The staff is so positive, they always made me feel comfortable."

Roberta M. Patient

“It worked wonders for me. I am very happy with the program. God bless. Thank you all for everything.”

Steven V. Riverside

“I would highly recommend Hill Recovery. As an adolescent I cam in unwilling, not wanting to be sober, and was in denial about having a problem and that I was just going through a "teenage phase." It sounds so cliche, but I really learned so much from this program and the peers around me.”

“It works.” That is what you want to hear about Hill Recovery… That is what we all want to hear about Hill. What I have found is that Hill Recovery Works, as long as I am present and willing. Hill provides outstanding support, guidance and the tools (and how to use them) to the alcoholic or addict that is in treatment. Also sets forth the path for succeeding in recovery. Hill is much different than just treatment. I am currently at Hill Recovery a place where I feel cared for and happy. Actually, I also feel safe here. What may be counter intuitive is that I am bummed that I am leaving out patient. I’m done here, but the journey is just beginning. Thanks to the amazing staff, I have the confidence to do what I need to do to stay sober and I know if I have any doubts or challenges I can always stop by Hill, or just pick up the phone. My sincerest appreciation to you all---My wife thanks you also!
